What state requirements does a teacher in Oklahoma need to meet for the Alternative Placement Program?

The Oklahoma Alternative Placement Program provides an opportunity for individuals with non-teaching degrees to teach in Oklahoma accredited schools. Here is the application for the alternative teaching program.
According to the State Department’s guidelines, professional education requirements must be completed within 3 years after entering the Alternative Placement Program, depending on prior education:
- Participants with a Baccalaureate: 18 semester hours or 270 clock hours
- Participants with a Master’s: 12 semester hours or 180 clock hours
- Participants with a Doctorate: 6 semester hours or 90 clock hours
Teachers get a Certificate of Completion for each online self-study clock hour course. Professional Development hours must be verified by the teacher’s local authority before enrollment.
Online semester hours are through regionally accredited colleges and universities in partnership with Professional Learning Board. Teachers get an official transcript.
