How do I renew a teaching certificate in NH?
Recommendations for renewal will be submitted through the Educator Information System (EIS) by the employer. Your employer must have a NHED approved Professional Development Master Plan for you to receive a recommended renewal.

What state requirements does a teacher in New Hampshire need to meet for license renewal?

Your renewal professional development requirements are determined by your employer’s NHED-approved Professional Development Master Plan. Your supervisor should be able to direct you to this information and the local process.
Requirements for educators renewing through the Department of Education include:
- 45 CEU’s for your Beginning or Experienced Educator License (Professional Education)
- 30 CEU’s for each endorsement issued the entire 3 year cycle
- Endorsements issued mid-cycle can be pro-rated: 20 CEU’s for 2 years, 10 CEU’s for 1 year, 0 CEU’s if issued after January 1st of the expiration year.
What state requirements does a paraeducator in New Hampshire need to meet for license renewal?
Not all employers with Professional Development Master Plans include licensed paraeducators under the plan, or include licensed educators working as paraeducators under the plan. Please be sure to check with your employer to find out if you will be recommended for renewal, or if you should renew directly with the DOE.
Requirements for paraeducators renewing through the Department of Education include documentation of 50 continuing education units (or clock hours) from the past three years.
