These online PDP classes are designed to help meet the MA requirement for training in strategies for effective schooling for students with disabilities and instruction of students with diverse learning styles. They are also designed for the 15 PDPs in content for renewing a Primary area related to Special Education (Moderate Disabilities, Severe Disabilities, Visually Impaired, Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing). Professional Learning Board is an approved DESE PDP Provider in Massachusetts.

  Addressing accommodation, modification, and adaptation of curriculum, materials, and instruction to appropriately meet the needs of teachers and a variety of students. This online course for teachers may meet state requirements to renew a teaching license. Check with your state department of education.

• Introduction to Autism (5 Hours)

In this course, educators will find tried and tested strategies, tips, real-life examples and insights to create more inclusive classroom and help students on the autism spectrum thrive.

• Teaching Students with Special Needs (5 Hours)

  

  Create nurturing, safe and diverse learning environments that enable every child to thrive. Special needs encompass a range of conditions and challenges that affect a child’s academic performance. Students with special needs may need assistance in learning, movement, and/or communication. Support all students’ varying capacities and capabilities regardless of their unique requirements or obstacles.

  Every student is unique and has different needs, learning levels and abilities. As teachers, it is certainly challenging to teach each and every student effectively. This online course presents reaching students with special needs as a real possibility. It prepares teachers to plan for IEPs (Individualized Education Plans), reveals the Universal Design of Learning framework, and shares Assistive Communication tools and technologies to help all students attain their maximum educational potential.
