We have a plethora of technology to choose and teachers can use it to effectively impact academic achievement. This online course highlights many applications and implementations of technology in the classroom.
Teachers will be introduced to the practical application of iPads to enhance learning in SECTION A: iPads in the Classroom and discover how to plan and organize the use of iPads in the classroom for a smooth and efficient operation.
In SECTION B: Apps for Education, teachers choose and successfully implement the “right or optimal” apps for their classroom. Teachers are shown to critically consider apps and software, specifics and the educational impact of an app prior to application in the classroom. Flipped Classrooms can transform a traditional classroom into one that uses technology and embraces classroom engagement.
In SECTION C: Flipping Classrooms, teachers will learn to design and create their own flipped classroom lessons.
Objectives & Outcomes:
As a result of successful participation in SECTION A, iPads in the Classroom , students should be able to:
- Explore the potential of iPads as effective teaching and learning tools in the classroom as well as the outside world.
- Become fluent in using iPads to learn, create, reflect, share and customize the learning experience with books and apps geared to specific levels.
- Identify features, advantages and challenges of iPads among students.
- Integrate appropriate rules and guidelines while using iPads in the classroom.
- Identify and integrate useful resources and apps to make lessons more effective.
- Choose apps that reflect key skills in Bloom’s Taxonomy and teach various “multiple intelligences” in Garner’s learning theory.
- Become fluent in using apps and addressing their logistical concerns.
- Enhance students’ learning with Puentedura’s SAMR models and the integration of November’s three phases.
- Learn to evaluate apps with students’ learning needs before implementing them in the classroom.
- Understand the definition, key elements, types, benefits and concerns regarding Flipped Classrooms.
- Compare traditional classrooms vs. flipped classrooms and understand how to implement technology into a Flipped Classroom.
- Create flipped lesson plans that develop higher order thinking skills and creativity.
After completing the course, you will be directed to the university for registration.
